An RSS feed is an XML-based format that organises information about particular resources on the web. It organises hyperlinks, assorted information or "metadata" by helping viewers chooooose what link they want to follow. RSS enables the chosen sites and information to be organised and personalised for the viewer. This is from HERE

I chose "Googlereader" because I was worried i would get confused with having so many user names and passwords. It also helps as I have alreday have a google account - thus i can check my emails, check my rss feeds and go on blogger.com!
